How to Sell your Old Stuff on Ebay

By topen On July 1, 2009 No Comments
Sell Anything Here!

After years of using, buying & selling computers and laptops, I accumulated quite a collection of defective units, parts, accessories, and even working ones. I mean my car parked outside my garage for at least two years in winter because my garage was completely full. I needed to get rid of all this computer stuff and quick. Another winter was creeping up on me. Then I received an email from my wife. Ebay was having a promotional listing day. Five cents per item to list as many items as you want to the largest online marketplace in the world.

So away I went. I transformed my laundry room into a photography studio. I started taking pictures and posting everything I could get to in my garage. With the help of my two kids, we got up fifty items in six hours. I started them at ninety nine cents on auction because I wasn’t sure the current value and I really didn’t care how much I got for them because it would probably end up in the garbage anyways. Plus it is not environmentally sound to throw out electronics and computer equipment in the trash. It will just end up in the landfills.

My son (13) and daughter (15) took this as an opportunity and a challenge. They were excited to be able to sell stuff online. They even got me hooked on trying to get the best price by adding as many keywords to my title listing and adding the value pack for sixty five (.65c) cents so I can have a subtitle and listing designer to attract more visitors to my ad. In fact, we really had fun doing this. My daughter did the design of my ad and my son helped with titles, descriptions & manual labor. We were like a selling assembly line.

The entire process took us about seven hours because we had a lot of stuff to post. In seven days all of my auctions were ending and luckily every one sold because I didn’t put any reserve. I sold broken keyboards, laptops, desktops, stuff I didn’t even think was worth something, sold! Cleaned out my entire garage in two weeks and turned it into CASH. I pocketed around $3000 in my paypal account.

I think Ebay is just fantastic and I recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of old electronics, laptop computers or desktops instead of throwing them out. Especially if you don’t care how much you get for it. You might find that some of those things you were going to throw away, is actually worth something to someone on ebay.

These are the steps I took to turn all the stuff in my garage into CASH

First I registered on ebay.ca ( Very easy to do by the way. Just follow the simple steps.)

Then I registered with Paypal.com (need credit card or can link bank account to deposit or withdraw money ) You should “confirm” your paypal account. This takes about 2-3 business days to complete because paypal deposits a small amount into your bank account and then you have to log back into paypal and tell them how much they deposited so they know you have access to that account statement. This is for security purposes.

Now I have a way to post the item (eBay) and a way to receive payment securely (Paypal.com)

So I log back into www.ebay.com and click on “sell”. I follow the easy steps of choosing my category and writing the title and description. I take the picture with my digital camera and upload it to ebay. The first picture is free which is all i really needed anyways so that was a bonus. Set the price, shipping and away you go. Click submit and I was done. On a five cent listing day, each listing cost me .70 cents. So I decided to check the regular price for listing that particular item and because I started the auction at ninety nine cents (.99c), the regular fees would only be around a dollar. What a deal! What steal! You should try it!

What to Look for When Getting Free Stuff Online

By topen On June 23, 2009 No Comments

There is tons of great free stuff all over the internet. But there are also many freebies to be wary of. But how do you know if you are getting a legit freebie or not? Here are some things to look for when getting freebies online.

Cost associated with free stuff

Is there a cost involved? If you are getting something for free online then it should be free. If you have to pay than be weary. The only exception to this rule is that sometimes free stuff online will have a small shipping fee associated with it. In my opinion it is only worth it to pay a shipping fee if it is significantly less then the value of the freebie.

I would never pay a $5.00 shipping fee for a free sample of shampoo or anything like that. But I would consider paying a shipping fee on a freebie like free 250 customized business cards, b/c if shipping is a few bucks it is still well worth it.

Signing up with personal information for free stuff

Almost all online freebies will require you to give your email and a shipping address. You should not worry about this as your address is needed to ship the freebie to you. And I recommend creating a special email address for freebies so you don’t flood your normal email with junk mail. But be sure you dont give out any other personal info like credit card numbers etc.

Free trials

Many companies offer some really good free trials that are worth getting. But when signing up for free trials you have to make sure to cancel before the billing period starts, otherwise you may be charged. Make sure you make a note in your calendar for a few days before the trial period ends to make sure you cancel your trial offer. And you may end up liking the product or service in which case you might want to buy or subscribe to it. Just make sure that the free trial you sign up for is from a legitimate company. Do a Google search first.

Referral program freebies

There are many referral based marketing programs in which you can win free game systems, mp3 players, and other cool electronics. But in order to win them you have to complete a number of offers or refer a number of people. Some of these programs have good reputations, like Transcendent Innovations, who does free xbox 360, free Ipods, Free PS3s and much more. But there are also a lot of frauds out there.

Always do some research on the company before you sign up for anything. Also, be aware that these companies have strict Terms and Conditions and will not hesitate to deactivate you for even the slightest violation (even if you did not know it was a violation). I know from experience.

Free paying surveys

There are a lot of great free paying surveys out there where you can get real cash or gifts. There are even companies that you can sign up to and regularly do surveys for money. Again, do research before you sign up to any of these companies. And never sign up to a company that requires you to pay to be a member. There are companies that do this for free.

Free vacation packages

A lot of companies offer free vacation packages or other freebies that just seem too good to be true. That’s because they are. Stay away from any freebie that seems too good. There is almost always a catch involved. For example, last week I was offered a free 2 night vacation with paid airfare. I asked the lady who called me a number of times if there was any catch or if I had to make any payments down the road. She said no and assured me it was a free vacation package.

All I had to do was come to them and pick up my free tickets and listen to an hour pitch from some company. But I was still a bit skeptical so I Googled the company’s name who called me with the offer. Sure enough I found what I needed. Turns out the offer is a free vacation, but they don’t give you it for two consecutive nights, and they book you at a crummy discount hotel of their choice. Plus they try to sell you all this stuff you don’t want or need. Bottom line: stay away from anything that looks shady!

Now that you have some information on what to look for when getting freebies, you can hit the net and start searching for free stuff. Good luck!

Is Get Stuff for Free a Scam

By topen On June 19, 2009 No Comments

lly possible to get free stuff - descent things you\’d actually want and be willing to pay money for — on the web? Is it worth the effort to try and land some of these free stuff online goodies for yourself?

The answer is “yes, absolutely” to the first question, and “it depends on you” to second.

The simple truth is, companies have good reasons for giving away free samples and full production items. In fact, most like to do it. And if you properly position yourself “in the loop,” you can receive all kinds of cool, free stuff.

What kind of reasons? Well, companies give out items for free in the hope that you will:

· Ultimately become a customer,

· Say something nice about them and their products, influencing others to purchase

· Provide the company with information that helps them identify/relate to their target market, or

· Give them feedback improve their product or their service.

You can generally find free offers that include everything from products that you use every day to high-ticket name brand items, gift cards to national stores and restaurants to trial services of one sort or another.

What’s the catch?

As a condition for giving or sending you stuff for free, companies will generally ask you to fulfill certain requirements - anything from providing something as simple as your zip code to completing a complex series of steps that mat tell them something useful about their potential customer’s shopping habits. Most requirements will include your e-mail and mailing address and some of the higher value offers may require a credit card and/or charge a few dollars for shipping and handling.

If think you’d like to get in the free stuff loop and you\’re serious about completing multiple offers to receive a recurring supply of gift items, it may help for you to follow the following suggestions:

· Read each offer carefully to be sure you fully understand and are willing to comply the requirements.

· Delete the cookies in your browser before you begin the process of requesting and completing each offer.

· Provide realistic information. Some people provide false or fake information, but I don’t advise that. You may want to consider using a drop box or P.O. instead your real home address. If you’re claiming a prize that requires shipping and will be delivered, make sure to use an address where you can pick up the mail.

· Along the same lines, consider subscribing to a cheap message service instead of using your actual home or cell phone number.

· Don\’t use your primary e-mail account. Use a separate e-mail account for free offers aws it is likely that the account you use will begin to receive a lot of spam. Set up a free Google Gmail or Yahoo mail account. These will generally will work just fine.

Lastly, many larger suppliers or manufacturers often use third-party companies to distribute their items. Often, you can request specific custom prizes from these companies if they are promoting something you\’re interested in. Just send him a request — usually through a support ticket on their website. There’s nothing to lose by asking and they will generally let you know if they can accommodate you.

The range of products, services and items that you can get for little cost or free is very wide. It includes everything from samples of beauty items you can pick up in your grocery store to popular electronic items like gaming consoles, video games, iPods and more.

For most people, a little time and effort is all that’s required to get free stuff by mail. If this kind of thing works for you, or you want to feed you free stuff addiction, then get out there, fill out a few forms and wait for the mailman!
